Black 'n White Ball A Gorgeous Success Wilmed Oncology and Hospice Matlosana have joined hands in planning for a facility to care for terminally ill patients who have been discharged from hospital, but who are not well enough to go back home. They are still in need of specialised care, which the families are not equipped to give to the patient. The Black 'n White Ball was the first of several events held to raise funds for this facility and was attended by all the Who's Who of the city. Wilmed Oncology's Charmaine Rider and Hospice's Charleen Diedericks were the coordinators of this event, while Country Caterers supplied the most delicious winter menu and together with North West Candles, turned the hall into a black and white wonderland. The Soweto String Quartet entertained the guests and about 400 guests, all dressed to kill, danced to their enchanting music, which covered all genres, from gospel to pop. Mr Charl Retief auctioned off items donated by Kings Jewellers, Sun City and local artist Miemie Louw, and the best dressed couple of the evening received prizes donated by Geels Jewellers and Distel. Charleen Diedericks said “It was wonderful to see people from all walks of life, from across the colour spectrum, coming together with two things in mind: to have some fun and to support the sick and dying people of our community.” Wilmed Onclology and Hospice Matlosana wish to thank all who contributed to the successful event - sponsors, donors and patrons. Watch the press for details of the next not-to-be-missed event! See page 3 for more photos of the glamorous event.
