Breast Cancer Awareness
Month
October is breast cancer awareness month. Breast cancer
awareness month raises awareness and educational activities to
increase knowledge about being breast aware.
Breast cancer is an increasing crisis in South-Africa and in
many other developing nations. According to the SA Department of
Health, it is the most common cancer among white and Asian
women; and the second most common among black and coloured
woman. Studies have shown that men are not immune to the
incidence of breast cancer and they should also pay attention to
the awareness thereof.
Breast cancer can be a frightening prospect, but the good news
is that it doesn't have to be a death sentence. With early
detection, we are now much better equipped to catch and stop
breast cancer in its initial stages.
For your own sake and for the sake of the ones you love, make
sure you have regular check-ups ……… it could make all the
difference in your life.
How to check for breast cancer? See next weeks issue of
Yourcity.
