Splendour at Rio Hotel

This past weekend saw the Grande opening of the brand new Peermont Metcourt Hotel at our very own Rio Hotel, Casino & Convention Resort, Klerksdorp. With key businessmen and woman of the city attending the launch, it's been another spectacular event hosted by the staff of Rio Resort.

The 70-key Metcourt Hotel follows a very modern design theme and provides 4 star design finishes and functionality at 3-Star prices. With the Metcourt hotels fast becoming the hotel brand of choice for business and leisure travellers, it has been created to offer guests vale-for-money and does not cut back on comfort, service and amenities.

Vibrant Colours of Pink, Purples & Blues set the theme for the opening.

With large drops of fairy lights and dramatic mural artworks that encompassed the exuberance of the Brazil Rio Carnival, the quality and legacy of Peermont is still present through the use of strong wood finishes and natural stone.
In the hotel bathrooms the natural burgundy tones creates calmness about the room and the mirror create a rounded unique effect.

A necessity in every room is the hairdryer for all ladies, and special universal & international plugs for every kind of accessory. The Metcourt hotel boasts with 30 Classic Twin Rooms, 20 Classic King Rooms, 10 Superior Twin Rooms, 5 Superior King Rooms, 1 Special Assistance room and 4 Executive Suits. The Hotel includes a business center, a family friendly swimming pool and a landscaped terraced garden. A Buffet-style Restaurant the F.L.A.G Café and Wi-Fi Internet access in public areas. As CEO Anthony Puttergill said, with all this the Rio Resort offers much more than a stand-alone city hotel along the N12, with the booming casino and the Convention Center for any occasion, guests can enjoy all the razzmatazz and splendour without having to drive anywhere.

The evening ended off with a spectacular fireworks display of note and some delicate confectionaries & drinks at the F.L.A.G Café while every guest was allowed to tour the hotel and mingle at leisure with dignitaries and other, to the live entertainment.

When I look into the mirror every morning I think: 'what a wonderful day!’

My favourite people in the world are: 'Positive Thinkers'

My favourite quote is: Do unto others as you would have done unto you.

I laugh easily so anything makes me laugh.

The greatest lesson life has taught me so far is: : You have to adapt to change!

I'll do almost anything for: A week in nature away from everything.

When I get stressed I get quiet.

I want my tombstone to read:
“I hope I touched peoples lives”

I wouldn't mind being stuck in an elevator with: Michael Mol

In three words I am: Humble, friendly, diligent.

If I had a million rand to spend I would: Go straight to an exotic island; eat as much as I can for as long as the money lasts.

I live in Klerksdorp because: Everything that I am, and all that I have is here Klerksdorp is my roots

The first thing I would save from a house fire is: My loved ones

My nickname is: Nothing that I know of - My name says it all.

I love my job because: I love people, and the fact that I cook is my way to reach everyone with my own inspiring and creative way.

YOUR NAME WILL MAKE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE EARTH HOUR 2009

Initiated by WWF-Australia in Sydney in 2007, Earth Hour saw
2.2 million People and more than 2 100 businesses turned their lights off across the city for one hour. This impact was the equivalent of removing 48 000 cars off the road for a year.

In 2009 we aim to get 3 million South Africans to participate. So join Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the worldwide patron of Earth Hour, and help us to save the planet. It is really easy.

It is just a click of the mouse and the flick of a switch!

What you need to do is sign up on www.earthhour.org.za or
Sms your postal code to 34017. Your name will form part of a
larger petition of billion names that will be sent to the United Nations Climate Change conference In Copenhagen at the end
of the year to put pressure on world leaders to pass legislation on climate change. The next small thing we need to do is switch
off our lights, just our lights, for 1 hour on the 28th of March
2009, 8:30pm.

That's it - just click and flick!

NUWE ODEION STRYKKWARTET

FOOTBALL MANIA AT BROTHERES COLLEGE – KLERKSDORP

About 20 children had the privilege of taking part in a specialized soccer clinic at Bothers of Charity last week. As part of the city's build up to 2010 soccer the 2010 Legacy City Desk of the City of Matlosana continue to promote and develop in the city.

AS part of the clinic the city commissioned a photo shoot which will be used as the brochure which will go our to as many countries in the world to promote Matlosana as a training/base camp for 2010. Participating countries will be announced shortly after the Confederation Cup which will be hosted in South Africa later on this years.
The City of Matlosana are ready to market the city at any given moment. The Global Investor's Conference which was held in September last year has already bench marked the city as global player and was the spring board to attracting both i8nverstors and sport lovers to our beautiful city on the Move! The city has also embarked on an aggressive campaign to attract a country to our city as a training/base camp venue. The fact that our very own Oppenheimer Stadium was one of the 13 Candidate Stadiums in the country give us the leading edge on other cities.
Under the watchful eye of Brian Sebapule (Ex Bafana player) soccer lovers at brothers were taken through basic soccer skill and shown the ropes. Young girls showed huge interest and potential at the clinic. This is very encouraging for the 2010 Legacy Desk due to the fact that Woman's Soccer is a priority and on the increase in South Africa.
A big thank you from The City Council to Brothers College for their willingness to participate in the program.

1000 Housing subsidies approved to assist Pomfret relocation process

North West MEC for Developmental Local Government and Housing, Howard Yawa has responded favourably to renewed pleas by some residents of Pomfret to be relocated to Bray and Tosca. He assured the residents at a public hearing held on Saturday afternoon that despite legal challenges to the relocation process, the ANC government will not abandon nor desert them to be further subjugated by greedy, manipulative and insatiable exploiters masquerading as philanthropists.

“As part of a compassionate and caring government, we could not ignore the reality of the threat that asbestos poses to the health of the people that reside in Pomfret in the long run. Your determination to relocate to healthy and safe environments influenced my decision to approve the application by Molopo Local Municipality for an allocation of a thousand housing subsidies for
housing developments in the identified areas. We trust that those of you who wish to relocate to these areas on a voluntary basis will seize the opportunity by registering for housing subsidies at your municipal offices,” Yawa said.

The MEC indicated that Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality has committed to provide funding for bulk infrastructure, i.e. electricity, water and sanitation for the envisaged housing development to meet the standards of Breaking New Ground (BNG) Housing Policy.

He further undertook to take up challenges of sustaining service provision at the former military base as highlighted by Mayor Bob Namusi in his overview of conditions at Pomfret with the relevant government departments for urgent intervention and resolution.
In response to complaints of insufficient consultation towards adoption of the proposed merger of Molopo with Kagisano Local Municipality, Yawa committed to take up the matter with the Minister for Provincial and Local Government for the consultation process to be reopened before the matter is finalised by the Municipal Demarcation Board.
He urged the municipality to improve its public participation processes and ward committee support.

The MEC made a passionate appeal for the community to work together with the municipality. He said that though Molopo Local Municipality has a limited revenue base, it has potential to grow and attract investments particularly in the tourism sector.

Wondering if your child will have a soft, gentle soul or if you will constantly Bump heads? The Stars offer some interesting clues - Julia Oellermann

LIBRA
23 September - 22 October
Libra babies are graced with an innate beauty and charm, which attracts to them plenty of positive attention. Parade your precious bundle in public and you'll be met with admirable stares and fountains of flattery. Aware of their allure, these cherubs will wrap even the crabbiest customer around their podgy little fingers. They take pride in their appearance, love people and pretty things. But they can be lazy, indecisive and a little fickle.

GEMINI
21 MAY- 21 June
Gemini babies are alert and interactive from the moment they emerge. Restless, excitable and constantly on the go, these small gems have little interest in stewed fruit or sleep. Insatiably curious, they'll want to know why, where, how and how come. They'll be walking, talking and asking to attend before all their friends. And no, they don't have split personalities, just many moods in one day.

AQUARIUS
20 January - 19 February
Enigmatic, extraordinary and entertaining, Aquarian babies are unique. They can light up a room or darken a mood depending on their fancy. Don't expect them to conquer their milestones in the correct sequence or sleep normal hours. These darlings have no intention of doing things the conventional way. They're ready to be friends with everyone and genuinely care about the state of the planet. Their brilliant minds will help you to broaden your own.

SAGITTARIUS
23 November - 22 December
Sunny Saggies are good little sports, graced with a curious and carefree nature. They'll go with the flow, and tackle the business of living with a zest that's inspiring and humbling. These tots are on a mission to learn and will stun you with their wise words, bright ideas and tall stories. Being independent and outgoing, they'll want to start school soonest. Avid adrenaline junkies, prepare for stunts and sprains.

ARIES
21 March - 19 April
This little darling is a challenge and inspiration, all wrapped up in one. Aries babies are demanding, self-centred, short-tempered and stroppy. They'll throw spectacular tantrums, constantly defy you, and disrupt your peace. But they're also happy, uncomplicated and honest. Their lust for adventure and enthusiasm is unrivalled. And when they fall, they get straight back up again.

LEO
23 July - 22 August
Little lions enter the world screaming, “Look at me, I'm special, I expect to be treated like royalty!” Dangerously self-indulgent, this baby will demand all your attention. And you'll comply, because they're impossibly charming, affectionate and generous-hearted little souls. Shamelessly bossy, these tots wants to rule the roost. They won't follow orders, but will delight in giving them fickle.

PISCES
20 February- 20 March
Pisces babies are soulful little sausages; sweet natured, adaptable and easy to please. They're extremely sensitive and cry easily. Beautifully compassionate, they'll want to rescue injured creatures, nurse the sick and help the poor. Armed with a rich imagination and adventurous spirit, they'll spend hours wrapped in a world of magic and make-believe. Little Pisceans often have a sixth sense and an imaginary friend.

CANCER
22 June - 22 July
Cancer babies are ruled by the Moon, so their moods fluctuate; prepare for floods of tears one minute and roaring laughter the next. Super-sensitive, self-protective and shy, they're firmly attached to their mommies and are happiest pottering around the home. Born to nurture, these children will mother their friends, make you tea in bed and help bake muffins for play dates.

SCORPIO
23 October - 22 November
You'll find Scorpio babies sitting silently on the sidelines, while their gurgling play mates snatch toys and swap dummies. They'd rather observe than engage with the group. Emotionally intense and incredibly strong-minded, these children sometimes find it hard to fit in. But they're exceptionally loyal and reliable. Passionate and perceptive, these little enigmas will bring a mixture of magic and insight to your world.

TAURUS
20 April - 20 May
Little bulls are some of the calmest and cuddliest babies around. Place your little pudding on a mohair blanket, with a bunch of touchy-feely books and a bowl of finger food and you'll have the most contented darling in the district. These tiny treasures are fiercely protective of their family, best friend and favourite toy. They don't like to be rushed or teased. They crave comfort, safety and a sense that they belong. Indulge them.

CAPRICORN
23 December - 19 January
Capricorn babies are serious little souls. They tend to be cautious and fearful especially if they're not in their comfort zone. They like to get things right and will master their milestones in a slow, but thorough fashion. Born to lead and eager to achieve, they set their sights on success from an early age. Strong-minded and willful, little Cappies love to take command. They will make you proud and are a teacher's delight.

VIRGO
23 August- 22 September
Make sure you've read all those baby books, because you're producing one of the pickiest poppets in the Zodiac. Virgo babies have high expectations. Leave them a second too long in a soiled nappy or serve sub-standard fare, and ou'll have one cross customers.
