ATKV Centurion vereer Afrikaanse Musiekikone en Legendes in hul Leeftyd
Min Shaw is as sanger vereer vir die bevordering van Afrikaanse Ligte
Musiek en Afrikaanse Christen musiek oor 'n tydperk van meer as 50 jaar.
Sy hou die rekord as die vroulike kunstenaar in Suid-Afrika wat al die
langste en nog steeds op ons verhoë optree.
Albie Louw is as klavierspeler, komponis en sanger, vereer vir die
bevordering van Afrikaanse Musiek oor 'n tydperk van meer as 65 jaar.
Nico Carstens is as Wêreldbekende trekklavierspeler en komponis vereer
vir die bevordering van Afrikaanse Musiek oor 'n tydperk van meer as 65
jaar.
Albie en Nico is albei 84 jaar oud en op dieselfde dag gebore.
Hulle hou die rekord as die manlike kunstenaars in Suid-Afrika wat al
die langste en nog steeds op ons verhoë optree.
Petronel was 'n ATKV Crescendo wenner wat haar eerste Cd as wenprys
ontvang het. Sy het erkenning ontvang met die bekendstelling van haar
vierde Cd "Vonnie" waarin sy duette saam met Min Shaw sing en onder
andere deur Nico Carstens, Albie Louw en Wouter van de Venter begelei
word.
Sy het spesiale vermelding ontvang omdat sy as jeugdige sanger die mees
ervare kunstenaars en musiekikone in ons land by haar nuutste
Cd-uitreiking betrek het.
Sy is tans een van net vier sangers in Suid-Afrika wat al die oktawe van
'n klavier kan sing.
Petronel was verlede week in 'n motorongeluk, maar was steeds in staat
om op te tree. Ons wens haar 'n spoedige en volkome herstel toe.

AK Adzatia of THS Klerksdorp participated in the National ABSA World
Knowledge Olympiad representing the North West .
He obtained 3rd place in the province in the Grade 9 category.

AMANDA BETOWER IN PERSREëN
Amanda Strydom is een van die gaskunstenaars wat gehore gaan betower in
die produksie Persreën wat vanaf 18 tot 21 Augustus in die
Sanlam-ouditorium op die NWU-Pukkampus aangebied word.
Amanda is 'n aktrise, skrywer, kabaretkunstenaar, komponis en
digter-sanger en sy deel die Persreënverhoog met Jan Blohm en ses puik
soliste uit studentegeledere.
Hulle is Netanja Brink, Valeska Smith, Cezanne Yzelle, Warren Kurkard,
Jaco Meyer en Neil Prins.
Strydom is deur die jare bekroon met 'n rits pryse en toekennings
waaronder vier Geraastoekennings, vier FNB Vita toekennings, die
SAMA-toekenning vir beste Afrikaanse Kontemporêre Album in 2004 en die
Rapport/City Press Prestige Prys in 2007.
Persreën gaan sy gehore meesleur op ‘n unieke musikale reis deur die
musiek van Johannes Kerkorrel soos wat dit nog nooit voorheen beleef is
nie. Die soliste word begelei deur die NWU-Puk Simfonieorkes en die
Pukkoor tesame met 'n ritmeseksie onder die musikale regie van Pieter de
Bruin.
Die aanbieding van hierdie produksie word moontlik gemaak deur die
ondersteuning van die NWU-PUK Alumnikantoor, die ATKV en OFM as primêre
mediavennoot.
Persreën is slegs 4 keer op die planke vanaf 18 - 21 Aug en kaartjies is
reeds beskikbaar by Pukkunste (Heimatgebou op kampus), Protea Boekwinkel
(op die Bult) en Horst Doedens in die Mooirivier Mall.

TALENT AFRICA EXCELLS
WORLDWIDE!
Talent Africa recently sent a team of Dancers to The Dance World cup in
Sardinia Italy, with the support of Local Government.
Nine dancers flew to Italy to represent South Africa, 7 of which
originate from the North West, Klerksdorp : Conrad Rust (Head Coach),
Tiaan Visser
( Assistant Coach), Jessi Kade, Jasmon Miller, Barbara Kanellakopoulos,
Bradley Price and Alucius Mocumi did us proud. The DWC is of extremely
high standard, yet Tiaan and Barbara managed to win Adult Jazz Duets,
Alucius achieved a second place in Adult Jazz Solos and the group as a
whole came second in Adult Jazz Groups, this item made such an
impression on the judges that the team were asked to perform it in the
final showcase item was choreographed by Visser. South Africa showed
their enthusiasm and good spirit in the National Dance (WAKA WAKA)
within 3 minutes they successfully managed to fill the stage with more
than 500 dancers uniting all nations with a single song!
Next we were off to New York, the city that never sleeps; entertainment
capital of the world. A different team set off to New York, while the
dancers were still in Italy. This time Models, Vocalists and Actors took
to the stage. South Africa entered 7 participants and walked off with 16
trophies as well as 5 special awards, competitors took part against all
52 states of America.

Suretha also received an award for Musicality.
Nicola and Rohan were invited for the roles “Buttercup” and “Skipper”
respectively for the upcoming Film MISTY MAY SKY , by well known play
write and former choreographer for Celine Dion. This will be filmed
towards the end of 2010.

Nicola would like to thank the North West Government for their enormous
input in making her trip possible. Also to Laura Danielz who worked very
hard at polishing her Modeling Skills, Lohan de Beer her private
Musical, theatre and Vocal Coach well known for his work in the media
world, and last but not least to Louw Breytenbach from Brainwaves who
prepared and accompanied her to her private casting.

MAJOR BOOST
FOR HOUSING DELIVERY IN THE NORTH WEST
Housing delivery in the North West will receive a major boost this month
when the National Women Build 2010 is launched on the 30th of July 2010.
As part of the National Women Build programme and to commemorate the
1956 women's march to the Union Buildings, the North West province will
construct 1 956 houses by the end of August. Out of the 1 956 units, the
province will complete the first 54 units at Coligny in Lichtenburg to
mark the 54th anniversary of the Women's Month.
The launch, which will take place at Coligny in the Ditsobotla Local
Municipality, will be attended by North West Premier, Ms Maureen
Modiselle, MEC for Human Settlements, Ms Desbo Mohono, the Mayor of
Ditsobotla Local Municipality, Ms Itumeleng Lethoko and Human
Settlements MECs from other provinces. The National Women's Build
Programme was first launched in 2005 in Gauteng where 25 housing units
were built. In 2006, the department built 50 housing units in
commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Women's Month in Orange
Farm also in Gauteng. Since then, the project has been hosted by
different provinces where houses have been built for vulnerable and
marginalised women to commemorate one of the largest demonstrations in
this country's history.
The National Women Build is a Letsema project which seeks to accelerate
housing delivery in the country by annually constructing housing units
for the vulnerable and marginalised women during the Women's Month
(August). In line with the Public Private Partnership (PPP) approach, a
number of financial institutions, construction-related companies and
sector departments have already pledged to play a significant role in
ensuring the success of this year's National Women Build project.

National Women Build seeks to commemorate one of the largest
demonstrations in this country's history, where thousands of women
marched to the Union Building in 1956 to protest against the extension
of passes to women by the apartheid regime.
The North West department of Human Settlements is confident that the
programme will help the province to accelerate the pace and quality of
housing delivery through partnerships with stakeholders and by promoting
the spirit of letsema.
The construction of these houses will promote women's access to economic
opportunities within the housing industry, promote the spirit of
volunteerism and further strengthen the Public Private Partnership
programme.

2km afdeling en Ulrich het 'n 3de plek behaal in die O/8 1km afdeling.

KHS NETBALSPAN NA NOORDVAAL KAMPIOENSKAPPE
Hoërskool Klerksdorp se O/16-netbalspan verteenwoordig Noordwes op die
Noordvaaldag wat op 30 en 31 Julie te Dr. E.G. Jansen plaasvind.
Die span, wat deur mev. Elsabé Burger afgerig word, het ook aan die
Noordwes
Kampioenskappe deelgeneem en vyf wedstryde gespeel.
Hulle eindig algeheel vierde en kwalifiseer aldus vir die
Noordvaal-kampioenskappe.
Die vier skole wat Noordwes op daardie dag gaan verteenwoordig, is KHS,
Rustenburg Hoër, Volkskool en Wesvalia.
Die spanlede is Minike Reynierse, Suné Senekal, Juan-Marie Rossouw,
Kariesa Snyman, Chireé Jacobs, Miré Knox, Nidine van Zyl en Michelle
Ferreira.

Wessies - NW hokkiewenners
Hoërskool Wesvalia se
o/16 A hokkiespan is aangewys as vanjaar se NW hokkiewenners na hul
ongelooflike spel in die NW Semi-finaal en NW Finaal. Wesvalia is die
enigste hoërskool in Klerksdorp wat vanjaar as NW
hokkiewenners uit die stryd tree.
Tydens die NW Semi-finaal wat plaas gevind het op Vrydag 23 Julie 2010
wen Hoërskool Wesvalia vir KHS met 'n puntetelling van 6-5.
WesvaIia dring deur na die NW finaal waar die Wessies teen Potchefstroom
Volkskool te staan kom. Die Wessies het puik gespeel wen Volkies en tree
as NW-wennners uit die stryd met 'n puntetelling van
5-4.
Drie van Wesvalia se hokkie-spanne dring ook deur na die Noordvaal
Kampioenskappe naamlik die eerste span,
o/16 A's en o/15 A's.
